ABOUT OUR COMPANY NAME AND SAIL LOGO
The company name has its origin from the founder’s family vacation to New England. The vacation included a stop in Newport, RI.
In the late 1800s, Newport was the vacation playground of the rich and famous. It was one of the three most important ports in Colonial America during the 1700s. It was the home to several hundred families who possessed more than 80% of America's wealth during the late Victorian period.
As mansions and villas sprung up, each more elaborate than the previous, the perfect vacation setting was established for "The 400", an elite group of very wealthy individuals. The families included the likes of Vanderbilt, Berwind, Oelrich, Astor, Widener, and Duke.
